Nikon D7000

So it is finally here the new Nikon D7000. However just as Nikon always does the supply is never adequate to even remotely compare to the demand. Most dealers were swamped with pre-orders for the new camera and Nikon in it typical fashion had a limited release. The camera is exceptional IMO as i had the opportunity to test it at the recent NY PDN Expo show. However it seems that Nikon is still in the learning stage of its sensor. Just as when the D90 was released several users are reporting DPOA (dead pixels on arrival). Of course with DSLR cameras,a dead pixel or two can be expected but on so many occasions and as many as five or six, that is a little questionable. Nikon does offer to remap the dead pixels for free if in warranty but i should not have to send my camera out of the box to be serviced, what happened to a little check known as quality of service on each product before it is packaged and shipped. Well the alternative is to wait, but Nikon is offering a great deal of $400 back if you get the camera with the new 70-200 2.8 vrII. These are two thing I wanted and at a discount, i guessI just have to bite the bullet and hopefully lady pixel luck is on my side.

Now what do i shoot

So here it is mid october,  the time when i choose to relax from shooting weddings and focus on my growth for the next year. However as a photographer  i love to shoot the question is though what to shoot. Well i would shoot the lovely color of the fall with the leaves changing that could be interesting however I am not that big on Landscape photography. I am primarily a portraiture photographer, i just love to shoot people. Then like an epiphany it came to me what better fusion - use the landscape as your backdrop. So i am off to shoot some artistic portraiture with those beautiful fall colors- STAY TUNED!!

First Learn, then Earn

So this past week I was able to enjoy the opportunity to attend a seminar hosted by David Ziser. I strongly believe the only way to get better at your craft is by learning from those who have years of experience in that field. My love is wedding photography, so I look y towards those in that industry. David has proved to be one of those persons. I first was introduced to David, by means of the great tutoring and instructional videos on kelbytraining.com. David's style appeals to me because of his use of external lighting. Many of my fellow wedding photogs just choose to use natural light. Natural light is truly beautiful, but sometimes it just isn't there, but if you use flashes or strobes wisely and truly learn about exposure and how to control the light,WOW - the pictures you can create. Don't simply  rely on the fact that you can crank up your ISO and get the shot, use some lights and in turn you can make the shot even better.
